Happy Fourth, everyone!!
While we all enjoy a good firework show at home, it’s not always completely safe. Let’s make sure that we all practice safety this fun weekend!
– Never allow young ones to handle fireworks, and always make sure that even the older ones are supervised while handling them.
– Never hold a lit firework in your hands.
– Only use fireworks away from people, homes, and flammable items.
– Do not try to re-light or handle “duds.” Wait 20 minutes, then soak it in a bucket of water to prevent fire spread or serious injury.
– Never place any body part over a fireworks device.
– Sparklers burn hotter than you think! At about 2,000 degrees, they can ignite clothing or severely burn people.
Some safety facts:
– 33% of fireworks injuries happen to the hands and fingers.
– 69% of injuries are burns.
– 47% of firecracker injuries were caused by small firecrackers.
– 39% of individuals that end up in the ER on the 4th are under the age of 20.
